New academic opportunities from the Virtual Institute

The African Centre for Economic Transformation and the International Food Policy Research Institute have issued a call for papers in preparation of the international conference, "The quest for economic transformation in Africa," set for December 5-6 in Nairobi.

Particularly encouraged are submissions from African economists, female and young scholars, and academics from the Least Developed Countries.

Full papers or extended abstracts may be submitted to nairobi2013@acetforafrica.org until September 27.

The South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment, Kathmandu, the South Asian Network on Economic Modelling, Dhaka, and the Centre for WTO Studies, New Delhi, will hold the sixth South Asian CGE Modelling Training Programme October 20-24, in Kathmandu.

Applicants should have at least a Master's degree in Economics or a related subject and a good knowledge of applied micro- and macro-economics.

Applications, along with a CV and a letter of interest, may be submitted to cge@sawtee.org until September 13.
