New academic opportunities from the UNCTAD Virtual Institute as on 22nd October 2013

Dear friends,

I am pleased to forward this academic offer on behalf of our South African Vi member coordinator, Wilma Viviers. I hope you find it of interest.

Vi affiliate South African member, North-West University, invites Vi members to apply for two post-doctoral fellowships in economics/international trade to begin next year. Each fellowship will have an initial period of one year, renewable for a second and third year subject to the incumbent making satisfactory progress in his/her research project.

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Economics/International Trade or a closely related field no more than five years prior to their application, be under 45 years of age, and have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, as well as a strong work ethic.

The fellows will receive a stipend of ZAR180 000 per annum (tax free) and a separate research grant of ZAR20 000 per annum. They will be expected to work on developing their research agenda, assist with research being undertaken by their mentor within their research entity and  act as a mentor to graduate students working in their field.
To apply, send your CV and research agenda – indicating alignment with the research focus of the TRADE research group, and at least two letters of recommendation to wilma.viviers@nwu.ac.za.
The positions will remain open until filled but screening will commence November 1.
