Research Positions
The Centre for Public Policy (CPP), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), has undertaken a large household survey in Karnataka (KHAS) as part of the multi-country Gender Asset Gap Project. We are looking for a person to join the core team as a Researcher to contribute towards data analysis, participate in the multi-country comparative work, and work on papers and policy briefs.
Primary Duties
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in ongoing analysis
- Develop research ideas and policy questions of interest from KHAS or other secondary data sets
- Contribute toworking papers, journal articles, commentaries, and policy briefs
- Assist in getting data ready for public release
Qualifications/Experience Needed
The candidate should have a strong quantitative analysis background with a keen interest in understanding and exploring data. Minimum educational requirement is Masters in Economics, Statistics, or any other relevant field with 1-2 years' research experience, or MPhil in any of these disciplines. Good knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS or STATA, and attention to detailarea must. Prior experience with large microdata work will be an asset. The candidate should be comfortable with communicating in English. The initial appointment will be for 12 months, renewable for another year depending on the researcher's interest and performance; salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
