11th Annual NLSIR Symposium on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

 

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR), the flagship journal of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore is pleased to announce the 11th Annual NLSIR Symposium on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. It is scheduled to be held on the 24th and 25th of March, 2018at the Allen and Overy Hall, National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

 

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code is one of the key legislations of contemporary India which has been recognised to have a huge impact on Indian industries.The 11th NLSIR Symposium on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code will throw light upon the manner in which this legislation has changed the business landscape of India, the impact of the recent developments in the legislation on the various players in the market, the law relating to insolvency and bankruptcy in India prior to the code and discuss the challenges in implementation and securitisation in order to trace the impact of this legislation.

 

Confirmed speakers for the event include Ms. Aparna Ravi, who was an integral member of the Bankruptcy law reform committee constituted by the Central Government to look into the law related to Insolvency and Bankruptcy in India, Mr. Satwinder Singh, head of Vaish Advocates and Associates' corporate law practice at New Delhi with vast experience in matters relating to private equity, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring, Mr.Sumant Batra, President of the society of insolvency practitioners of India and Chairman of ASSOCHAM National Council of Insolvency and Bankruptcy, who also works as a senior international consultant to the IMF, World Bank, OECD among others, and Ms. Bhargavi Zaveri, a former research fellow at Harvard Law School who is currently associated with the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, working in the areas of financial regulation and policy. The symposium will also be graced by many other speakers from distinguished law firms, government organisations,and policy institutions.

  This year, the discussions will be divided into four panels:

 

Session I: Confronting the NPA Crisis: Mapping the IBC and legislations prior to it

 

Session II: Implementing the IBC: Challenges in building wherewithal

 

Session III: Corporate Insolvency: Litigation, Restructuring and Securitisation

 

Session IV: Cross-border insolvency: Impact on foreign creditors and ARCs
